START YOUR LOCAL CHAPTER TODAY!--BUILD POWER FROM WITHIN

Community organizing is about building power among a broad membership base -- either individual or institutional -- of low and moderate income people.

Our members and volunteers provide the leadership, direction and “power” for Fair Share's activities. We work on issues that affect chosen by the members themselves.

Fair Share focuses on issues which affect a wide range of very low to moderate income people, such as predatory lending, health care access affordable housing, transportation, supports for low-income parents, access to education, income support and economic justice.

Fair Share believes that real change happens when people take responsibility for – and take control of – the institutions that affect their lives.

Building the infrastructure for Social Change

The wind of change is coming…South Carolina, are you ready? SC Fair Share is embarking on a revolutionary dream of establishing 46 chapters in every community across the state. This as we know it, will transform the public policy landscape by ultimately putting the power of policy-making back into the hands of the people!

In order to build the infrastructure for social change in South Carolina, we want to recruit and retain members that are willing to organize themselves to ensure that: 1) State policies embrace the social and economic equality for all people, 2) Community investments are protected, and 3) All South Carolinians have access to quality health care, education, and job opportunities that provide a living wage.

SC Fair Share is confident that this can be achieved; our role is to facilitate the work, not lead it. We provide the research, training and technical assistance to enable everyday people to participate in the shaping of public policies that affect them.
